Not disheartened in the least by the disaster they caused early last year, BP has signed a deal with Russia which will allow them to exploit the oil reserves found in Russia's artic shelf. W It appears that retirement is not present only in human communities. Leaf-cutter ants start their lives with razor-like jaws, or mandibles, to cut through the leaves they harvest. But as these "wear out", the insects tend to carry the leaves cut by their younger counterparts. Eggs containing the contaminant have been exported to Holland and the UK and the full extent of the contamination is not known.
